Abstract: Nigerias Vision 2020 is an economic plan intended to make Nigeria to be among the 20 largest economies by the year 2020. The economic development of a nation depends to a large extend on the ability of its citizens to be able to access and effectively utilize information. Therefore, for Nigeria" to be a major player in the global market there is need for the country to fully embrace Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for teaching and learning. This paper explains the role of ICT in improving teaching and learning. Obstacles militating against the use of ICT in schools and suggestions on the way forward were also highlighted.
