Abstract: The fresh leaves of Ficus exasperate v and ahl were phytochemically screened and also investigated for the presence of certain biologically active compounds with both aqueous and petroleum ether extracts were tested on two respiratory infection isolates, streptococcus pneumonia and streptococcus pyogenes. The phytochemical analysis results showed the presence of alkaloids, anthraquinones, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, steroids, terpenoids, carbohydrates and tanins. The antimicrobial activities of the aqueous and petroleum ether extracts were determined by broth disc diffusion an agar diffusion methods. Only the petroleum ether extract showed significant activity in the inhibition of the growth of the tested organism
