The concept of social capital is gaining momentum in the social science research in this dispensation. Based on its relevance to the economic performance both at the micro and macro level, it is argued that it has an important role in poverty reduction. Social capital has seen as a missing link to poverty reduction. To this end, social capital has been depicted as an empirically elusive concept, and as the glue that holds society together. This paper reviews the empirical evidence of social capital on economic outcomes. It concludes that the components of social capital have a significant influence on economic performance.en_US
