Abstract: The study aimed at examining school library stock (with respect to library collection, methods of acquisition and organisation) staffing, funding and service provided. The study also examined problems that hinder effective school library services in Niger State. Survey technique-involving questionnaire and interview were used. Ten out of 184 secondary schools were sampled. The findings revealed inadequacies in library collection, organization of library resources, funding, staffing and service provided. Descriptive statistics was used. Recommendations are proffered.
