The study is aimed at providing answers to three research questions on the effect of downward, interpersonal and channels of communication on job performance of school library personnel. Survey method was used and the population comprised the school library personnel that attended the 25th Annual general Meeting of the National Conference of Nigerian School Library Association. The same population of 300 personnel was adopted for the study using questionnaire. Data were analysed by descriptive statistics (percentages and mean). The study revealed that there was no positive effect of downward communication on job performance and that interpersonal communication improves job performance. On the other hand, channels of communication do not improve job performance due to ineffective downward communication; interpersonal communication improves job performance though written media has been neglected. School library personnel are not computer literate. The study recommends that there should be free flow of information from superior to subordinates, while conferences, seminars and workshops should be organized regularly to encourage communication among school library personnel in Nigeria.en_US
