dc.description.abstractThe study analyzes the role of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) in practical skill acquisition and development in tertiary institutions in Niger State to elicit the responses from the subject, three research questions were asked. The sample of the study was made up of 83 students from Slate Polytechnic Zungeru and 87 from Federal Polytechnic Bida, all in Niger State. Information was collected for, the study through the administration of questionnaire to the respondents. Data obtained were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t-test. The findings revealed that students are aware of the objectives and contributions of SIWES to practical skill development It also identified factors affecting students during SIWES. The implications of the findings were discussed and recommendations made to improve the programmes objective for developing skills in tertiary institutions in Niger State.en_US
