| Abstract: | The national economic empowerment and development strategy (NEEDS) is rightly an ambitious reform programme aimed at meeting some of the basic needs in Nigeria. It is a programme meant to improve the standard of living of the masses. The paper tries to discuss: functional science and technology in attaining the goals of NEEDS in Nigeria, influence of science and technology on economic empowerment and development, promoting science and technology to achieve the goals of NEEDS. Recommendations were also made which if addressed will go a long way keeping Nigeria in the realization of the overall goals of NEEDs |
