Abstract: The economic condition of the country calls for a critical look at the quality of block produced commercially by numerous factories so as to reaffirm its suitability for use in building as such there is need to investigate the quality standard of those blocks in relation to the standard quality set by the Standard Organization of Nigeria(SON). The average calculated compressive strength of 150mm and 225mm sandcrete block of block molding firm in Minna metropolis for the year 2007 were the data required for this study. Pearson’s moment product correlation is the statistical tool used for the analysis so as to determine the degree or intensity of the relationship between two or more variables. The result of the analysis shows a significant difference between SON specification and sampled block. It was concluded that the blocks manufactured in Minna do not meet the required standard set by SON. As such, there is need to inject into block making sector a strategic plan for the required improvement of these block. This recommendation can be implemented through a system licensing similar to the ‘NAFDAC’ system which will certify only block whose quality and standard confirms with the SON benchmark.
