This study examined entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development in Nigeria in the 21st century. It explained concept of economic development, sustainable economic development, entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship development. The rationale for introducing entrepreneurship in Nigeria education system was unveiled. The study revealed the entrepreneurship challenges in Nigeria plus possible remedies as well as strategies for achieving sustainable economic development in Nigeria in the 21st century. It was concluded that sustainable economic development is possible through effective entrepreneurship practices in schools as well as in the informal systems. It was recommended among others that the present method of teaching entrepreneurship as a subject should be replaced with teaching entrepreneurship as an activity which combines teaching with real experiential exercises. It is belief that when students are exposed to the concepts, principles and theories of entrepreneurship, their entrepreneurial spirits will be fired to ginger them into thinking of how to create jobs for others instead of being job seekers and thus enhancing sustainable economic development in Nigeria.en_US
