Abstract: This study is aimed at investigating the strategies for enhancing the enrolment of students in woodwork technology education option in Federal University of Technology, Minna. In order to obtain the pertinent information of the study two research question and two objectives and research questions are set to guide the study. Two research hypotheses are tested are 0.05 level of significance. Total number of one hundred thirty (130) students in the Department of Industrial and Technology Education in Federal University of Technology, Minna. A selfstructured questionnaire developed by the researcher for the purpose of this study was used to get the desired information from the students. Responses from the questionnaire was analyzed using descriptive statistics mean and standard deviation was used for the research questions. While t-test was used for the hypotheses testing at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that students and parent are not enlighten on the importance of woodwork technology education as most felt woodwork technology education because it has no bright future, people call the experts carpenter, the workshop is not well-equipped and their teachers lack practical skill. Based on the findings of this study, attitudes of parents towards Woodwork Technology; peer group influence and calling experts carpenters affect students’ enrolment into Woodwork Technology programme. Therefore, students should be enlightened during students’ orientation at the beginning of every academic session about Woodwork Technology and they should be informed that experts in Woodwork Technology are not called Carpenter and the opportunities available to graduates of Woodwork Technology Education should be explained to them. Guidance counselors can play active role also by providing information on importance of Woodwork and job opportunities available for graduates of woodwork technology education. The above information can assist in strengthening students’ enrolment in the course.
