Authors: AMADI, PETER CHIDINGOZI
Issue Date: Nov-2008
Abstract: Quite often, students enter into lecture halls, switc h on the app li ances - bu lbs. fa ns. Ai r conditioners (ACs.), fluorescent tubes, etc and leave them on when leav in g the hal ls. The implication of this is liabilities offtre outbreak through upsurge vo ltage, as the app li ance are on. Aga in th ere will be hi gh electri c bill as a result of careless lise of powe r. This ill can be corrected using intelligent room monitor and controller. It uses in ll'a reu emission to sense human bein gs when goin g in or out the lecture hall . AS stude nts go into the lectu re hall , the first person to enter th e hall. it switches 0 all the app liances - bulbs. fans, ACs, flu orescent tu bes. refri gerators etc. It has 3 displ a) units one: to display the number of students going in , two; to displ ay th e number of stu dents going oul. th ree: to display the number of students in the hall . When th e last person leaves. it wi ll automati call y switch off all the appliances. The interesting part of this project is th at it is designed and constru cted to be able to use onl y one entrance door and will be able to differenti ate peopl e go in g in and out oC the hall and accurate ly do the counting and control all th e appliances correc tl y.
