Title: DESIGN AND ·CONSTRUCTION OF A MICROCONTROLLER BASED DIGITAL THERMOMETER WITH CELSIUS AND FAHRENHEIT DISPLAY
Authors: ISAH, OMEIZA RABID
Issue Date: Nov-2008
Abstract: This project involves the design and construction of a digital thermometer using a microcontroller. The thermometer displayed output is digital, thus help to avoid the limitation due to parallax error in analogue thermometer. The whole system incorporates a microcontroller which is interfaced to other components. These components include a temperature sensor, an analogu,e-to-digital converter (ADC) and eight-digit-seven segment display. The temperature sensor used is an integrated circuit (LM 35), This IC senses temperature and generates at its output an analogue voltage that is proportional to the temperature it senses. The microcontrollerthrough the program code written to it then convert the binary values to its equivalent temperature in degree centigrade (OC) and degree Fahrenheit (OF) and displays the values on the eight-digit-seven-segment display simultaneously.
