Issue Date: Aug-2021
Abstract: The study assessed the availability and use of audio and audio-visual technologies(materials) for teaching and learning in Minna, Niger state. This study became necessary because Some school subjects which are regarded to be too tough to understand by students can be made simple, interesting and learnable if the teachers use appropriate and adequate instructional resources. But a major problem that is usually unnoticed is the non-availability and use of relevant educational resources. This study ensured reliability by Test Re-test method of data collection; this means that the questionnaires will be test twice at different times. Also the supervisor assisted in refining the instruments focusing on study, research tasks and questions. The data collected for this research work will be organized and analysed. Because the data obtained in the study are mainly descriptive, non-parametric statistical techniques such as percentage, frequencies of numbers converted into percentages, in one case mean is used as means of analysis were used in the analysis. This helped to analyze the answers to the questions in the questionnaire and draw conclusion. The results revealed that there is availability of audio and audio-visual materials in tertiary institutions in Minna Metropolis, this was contrary to the findings of Nwankwo (2004) who revealed that audio materials are not available. The following recommendations were made, Audio-visual in teaching and learning should be encouraged, Government should ensure adequate funding and provision of audio-visual materials in tertiary institution, Training of teachers, students on the use of audio-visual materials should be encouraged
