Abstract: ABSTRACT Environmental Hazard Survey; position, practice and relevance in the Nigerian Refineries and Petrochemical Companies i the topic of this research. Environmental hazards are regarded as the key element responsible for the call to a better Environmental Management taking into account their potential to cause hann to people and the Environment, depending on how their manifestation is encountered. In this project work, an attempt was made to appraise hazard survey as work tool in Environmental monitoring and control in the oil industries. The main issues are; knowing where these industries are now, how they are using this tool and the importance they attach to its usage. The Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) wa used as a case study. At the conclusion of the work, KRPC was found to have been practicing Environmental Hazard Survey since the inception of the company, but the method and most equipment used are out dated and require urgent adoption of the late t methods and equipment considering the technological advancement in the oil business today. Some general recommendations and suggestions for further research were also proposed.
