A trigonometrically - fitted fourth order Improved Runge – Kutta (IRK) method whose coefficients depend on the frequency and step – size is constructed. The method is applied to solve sample initial value problems (IVPs) with oscillatory solutions. Numerical results obtained are compared with those of the non - fitted IRK method of the same order. The comparison shows that the trigonometrically fitted method is much more effective and efficient than the non – fitted method, with similar cost.en_US
