Authors: DANGALADIMA, EMMANUEL JATAU
Issue Date: Dec-1999
Abstract: In Niger State, a Forestry Management Information System is urgently required for present and future intensive management and planning. After a forest inventory, data analysis to generate necessary information involves complex, careful and tedious calculations. Depending on sampling intensity, thousands of trees could be measured for Basal Area, Merchantable top heights and volumes. These information which are essential for preparation of volume and yield tables, regression equations for volume and yield forecast, can be produced by an information system. This project highlight is the design of a dBASE program for generation of these information with less labour, better accuracy and great speed. Six of the seven top senior forestry officers were interviewed on various management information generation method.
