Abstract: We study a one dimensional transient model for predicting temperatures in living tissues such as a prostate undergoing microwave heating. We show that temperature is non-decreasing function of time. The method of asymptotic expansion is used to decouple the system of partial differential equations, describing the problem under consideration, and an analytical solution of the reduced system is obtained using the method of eigenfunction expansion. The results are presented graphically and it is discovered that the heat transfer is significantly influenced by the parameters involved.
