Abstract: Methanolic extract of Allium sativa (garlic) was investigated for its inhibitory activity on both crude and partially purified phosopholipase activity from Naja mossambica veonom. The purification scheme employed both ammonium sulphate precipitation and size exclution chromatography on sephadex G-50.The enzyme was inhibited by different concentration of the extract in a dose dependent pattern. Double reciprocal plot of the enzyme activity against both substrate and inhibitor concentration showed an uncompetitive pattern of inhibition. The Vm and Km of both crude and partially purified phospholipase gave 67*10M/min, 1.28mg/ml,and 98*10M/min respectively. Inhibition constant(Ki} for both crude and partially purified enzyme gave 0.17mg/ml and 0.04mg/ml respectively suggesting a higher binding affinity and may be a good source of pontential inhibitor of phospholipase
