Abstract: A preliminary field trial was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (Southern Guinea Savannah ecological zone of Nigeria) durring the 2019 cropping season. The experiment was laid out in a Randomize Complete Block Design and replicated three times. The treatments consisted of two okra varieties (NHAe47-4 and LD88), five rates of Nitrogen fertilizer (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kgN/ha) and six fruit positions (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6th). Each plot measures 2x5.25m comprises of eight ridges. Parameters measured included days to first flower bud initiation and opening, days to 50% flowering, plant height and leave area. Number of productive branches and flower abortion incidence were also determine among others. Data collected were subjected to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Means separation was carried out using student Newman Keuls (SNK) test at 5% level of probability. Application of 90 to 120 kgN/ha gave better fruit size and seed yield of okra. Number of seeds of okra plants is better at a lower position on the mother-plant than higher position. With the result of this study: okra growth, fruit and seed yield can be enhanced by application of 90 kgN/ha.
