Abstract: This paper presents an analytical method to describe the heat and mass transfer in the flow of an incompressible viscous fluid past an infinite vertical plate. The governing equations account for the viscous dissipation effect and mass transfer with chemical reaction of constant reaction rate. The coupled partial differential equations describing the phenomenon have been transformed using similarity transformation and solved analytically using iteration perturbation method. The results obtained are presented graphically. It is discovered that the heat transfer rate decreases due to increase of Prandtl number and Eckert number. Mass transfer rate decreases due to increase of Schmidt number and increases due to increase of reaction rate.
