dc.description.abstractInspite of the significant contributions of the small and medium enterprises to the Nigerian economy, Corona virus has completely impeded the performance and development of the sector. Entrepreneurship which addresses the problem of wealth disparity rebuild the economy by engaging the youths to establish business which employs a large number have not been given the desired attention due to bad governance. That's why; this paper adopts a critical review of extant literature from reputable databases that examined diverse approaches to innovation within an established business/firm in relation to performance. The theoretical basis is built on the innovation theory on the assumption that the natures of most key resources needed by the business are basically dynamic. The major gaps from the review were identified in order to justify the need for further studies. A conceptual framework outlining the relationship between variables in the review is formed. The findings of this study would serve to guide future studies on entrepreneurial behavior and firm performance. The study offers the entrepreneur of businesses and firms an insight on how to achieve performance and sustainability through entrepreneurial behavior. It is recommended that bakery should establish their competitive advantage by being innovative in order to maintain and increase their sales growth in view of the vibrant nature of the environment. The study contributes to the existing literature on entrepreneurship in up-and-coming economies.en_US
