This paper highlighted the need to provide improved library and information services in Nigeria by the year 2020. "The extents to which the Federal and State Governments have tried to provide such services are discussed. It was however, observed that the efforts made so far have not yielded the desired results and therefore, library and information services, as at present are still at its very low ebb. However, basic strategies for positive results such as massive establishment of libraries, library cooperation, adequate funding, training of professionals and utilization of Information and Communication Technology were advocated. The paper concluded that in order to achieve the objective of providing adequate Library and Information Service in Nigeria by the year 2020 funding among others, must be given due priority that it deserves.en_US
