Abstract: This chapter titled types of tests is chapter four in a book titled “Implementation of continuous assessment in Nigeria”. The book critically considered pertinent issues in the implementation of continuous assessment in Nigerian schools. This chapter gave a general overview of types of tests with emphasis on essay tests, objective type tests, completion tests, true/false tests, matching tests, multiple choice tests, oral tests as well as performance tests. It also unveiled important considerations in writing the various types of tests in schools. The chapter also gave detailed advantages and disadvantages of the various types of tests.
