Abstract: Effect of cutting parameters on energy consumption in turning AISI 304 alloy steel under dry and wet cutting conditions were analyzed statistically. The experiment involved the use of AISI 304 alloy steel as workpiece material and tungsten cutting tool. Design of experiment via Response Surface methodology was used to design the experiment, while Minitab software 17 was employed to analysis the data obtained from the experimental runs. It was observed that for both dry cutting and wet cutting conditions, depth of cut has the most significant effect on the energy consumption with 81.96% and 42.64% respectively.
