| Abstract: | A matrix is basically an organized box (or "array") of numbers or other expressions. It is simply a rectangular array of numbers or expressions. In a general sense, it represents a collection of information stored or arranged in an orderly fashion. The mathematical concept of a matrix refers to a set of numbers, variables or functions ordered in rows and columns. Such a set then can be defined as a distinct entity, and it can be manipulated as a whole according to some basic mathematical rules (Abdi and Williams, 2010). According to Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary 3" Edition (2008), a matrix is a specialized group of numbers or other symbols arranged in a rectangle, which can be used together as a single unit to solve particular mathematical problems. |
