Steam power generation is one of the major power generations in the world which needs to be enhanced in order to reduce greenhouse effect while improving the power generation. This study concerns energy and exergy analysis of steam power plant of Ajaokuta Steel plant. The parametric data of the plant were obtained during the normal operation of the plant, and both energy and exergy analyses were carried out on major equipment of the steam power plant. The analysis carried out covered fuel, furnace boiler, heat regenerative equipment and boiler drum, turbine and condenser. The average energy efficiency of the boiler was found to be 85.7% while the average exergy efficiency of the boiler is 65.5%, that of turbine energy efficiency is 69% while turbine second law efficiency is 58% and the exergy destroyed in the boiler, turbine and condenser were also evaluated. The cycle energy efficiency is 29% while that of exergy is 51.8%.
